Artist
A member of the LSU-Alexandria faculty since 1970, Professor Roy de Ville works primarily as a landscape artist. His study of nature and its diverse forms has taken him on many working trips to Europe and to locations throughout the United States. deVille is also the director of the University Gallery and responsible for curating the gallery’s frequent exhibits. A registered curator with the American Association of Museums and a voting member of the International Council of Museums, he has been cited by the Conservadora de la Fundación Lázaro Galdiano for his curatorial work with the Heart of Spain exhibit. de Ville has also been an active participant in art organizations and programs in the state. He has served, for example, on the Governor’s Committee for the Arts and been an adjudicator for the State Gifted and Talented Program in art. In addition, he frequently serves as a juror for local galleries and shows. Professor de Ville was awarded LSUA’s Huie Dellmon Trust Endowed Professorship for the 2003-2004 academic year.
