Since its inception in the early 1960's, LSU-Alexandria has ammassed an outstanding collection of local, state, and regional art. These art works are located both in the University Gallery and throughout the campus. The web site brings together the university's holdings in a central location for viewing and study.

It has long been the aim of LSU Alexandria to acquire art which would reflect the Gulf Coast region. Through purchases and gifts, this collection now serves to represent internationally recognized artisits such as Clyde Connell and Ida Kohlmeyer, along with collections of regional pottery, such as that from the Shearwater Pottery of Mississippi. Local artsits are represented as well, along with the work of studio professors from Louisiana colleges and universities.

The University Gallery maintains a schedule of exhibits during the academic year which enhance this goal to bring Louisiana and regional artists to public attention. The Gallery is listed in The American Artist. The University Gallery is directed by Professor Roy de Ville, AAM/ICOM Curator.
